Welcome to Jetco Painting

I would like to welcome you. This is the reopening of my father’s company previously called Jetco Painting & Construction. And the new company is called Jetco Painting.

At the age of 12, my Daddy (James Thompson) asked me a question. “Jamiesha, do you want to make some money?” I said, yes Daddy. I started to help him cut grass. In Jackson, the first businesses we cut grass for were - Yen King and America Physique. We would cut grass weekly. Then one day, he asked me – I got a paint job, and do you want to learn? I said , yes Daddy. In 1990, on the southside of Jackson, a corner house on Addison street- we painted our 1st house together.  It was the beginning of JETCO.

I was his first painter and student. He taught me, and I listened and followed his instructions intensely.  We worked from sun up to sun down. I didn’t complain I was so happy to see the completion of the final product and to be with my Dad. The homeowner was so satisfied and tipped us a little bit more. My Dad and I was so thankful and we walked away with a spark to do more painting jobs. As the years progressed, we both worked hard and reaped the rewards. As the business grew, he added more employees and then eventually he pursued his contractor’s license. The accumulation of great talent, skill and passion as he built the team allowed the business to flourish. In hindsight, we were the only Black owned painting and construction business in Jackson. I worked each summer from the tender age of 12 to adulthood, and then later as I pursued my college education. I was my Daddy’s right arm. I was about my Daddy’s business.

And because of my Dad’s work, the satisfaction of giving customers great detailed, quality painting work from residential to commercial projects. I humbly begin where my Dad left off. Jetco’s business has being closed for 11 plus years now, we have started again. I helped him grow the business, train individuals, manage the office – accounting/bookkeeping of his business and now his legacy will continue on and I would be honored to service Michigan customers who have future painting projects. I have a passion for homeowners/business owners to experience detailed, quality painting, great customer service, and the hope to breathe new life into a room, space, or property with a fresh coat of paint.
